Roots Azul: Sound, Culture, & Community in Tampa Bay
Featuring J.J. Pattishall
MusicThe Studio@620 welcomes J.J. Pattishall for a special evening of entertainment and education! This unique project tells the story of the diverse musical and cultural influences that have shaped the sound of the Tampa Bay region. Part concert, part masterclass, part oral history, this narrated sonic journey through Tampa Bay will feature a live ensemble performing six original compositions and a short workshop discussing the musical styles featured in the concert ranging from jazz to funk, Afro-Cuban to soul, reggae to roots rock.
“My hope is that by shining a light on the multicultural nature of the music and people of this special region, audience members will leave with an understanding of the deep connection between these styles and cultures to one another and to the global community at large,” – J.J. Pattishall.
