About the Play
In an attempt to help his mother, who is struggling with depression, a young man creates a list of every brilliant thing about the world. “1. Ice cream. 2. Water fights. 3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV.” Duncan Macmillan’s Every Brilliant Thing uses humor, audience interaction, and unique storytelling to tackle the nuances and difficulties of mental health. Throughout the play, we discover that the list helps form meaningful connections to each other and the world around us, and allows us the opportunity to grieve and grow.
