“Wherever You Go, There You Are” a Dance Film Premiere
Presented by Your Real Stories
Dance“Wherever You Go, There You Are” is a dance film featuring dancer/choreographer Crystal DelGiudice. The project began in 2020, as one woman contemplated the fact of having many of life’s usual distractions removed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With fewer work and social obligations, she found herself face to face with aspects of herself for the first time.
Your Real Stories put together a team of artists to collaboratively explore this experience and quickly discovered that so much of this experience was universal, and that it resonated with each of our own personal responses to COVID isolation.
The dance for camera was recorded in February 2022 at The Studio@620. The Studio@620 has been a supportive partner since Your Real Stories’ first project launched in 2011, so it is only fitting that we are returning there for our first live event since 2019.
In addition to the film premiere, the evening will include an immersive experience in which the audience may explore the physical and emotional world created for the film. Audience responses will be integrated into future performances of the work.
The film will be accompanied by three other dance films produced by Your Real Stories during the pandemic, and will be followed by a conversation with the collaborators.
