Artist-in-Residence

Dylan Barlowe is an actor, director, and stage combatant from Saint Petersburg, Florida. He holds a BA in Theatre from Columbia College Chicago and has trained at London’s international drama school, Rose Bruford College.

Dylan’s international work has inspired him to pursue interdisciplinary theatre that creates fun, innovative and immersive experiences. Dylan is interested in storytelling that utilises audience participation to push the boundaries of traditional theatre.

He has studied, taught and performed theatre in cities all over the world, including London, Nairobi, Osaka, Chicago, and throughout the Tampa Bay Area. Dylan specialises in Stage Combat, having installed fight choreography for numerous productions and is an Actor Combatant with The Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). He is the proud winner of the 2024 Theatre Tampa Bay Award for Outstanding Fight Craft for Ghost Stories of Yellowstone (Off Central Players).

Although acting is how he arrived in theatre, Dylan has directed a number of plays including Who’s Holiday (Off Central Players), Don’t Feed the Animals (American Stage), The Diaries of Adam and Eve (American Stage), The Pitchfork Disney (Bar Theatre Ludo), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (Studio@620) and an original show which Barlowe co-created, A Haunted Cabaret (Off-Central Players). Dylan also established a children’s theatre program in the greater Chicago area at Makom Solel Lakeside, where Dylan led workshops and directed multiple productions.

Some past performance credits include: Hamlet (Studio@620), White Rabbit Red Rabbit (American Stage), Every Brilliant Thing (Studio@620 & Off-Central Players), The Taming of the Shrew (Studio@620), Conductor of the Hogwarts Express (Universal Studios Japan), and The Pitchfork Disney (Bar Theatre Ludo). Recent Fight Direction credits include: Bakersfield Mist (Off Central), Art (Off Central), Hamlet (Studio@620), Ghost Stories of Yellowstone (Off-Central Players), Gaspar The Musical (The Palladium Theater), and Sheltered (Short Film).

Dylan is an Artist-In-Residence at The Studio@620 and a member of American Stage’s Beyond The Stage Acting Company. He is currently based out of Tampa Bay, FL. www.dylanbarlowe.com
