Learn more about who we are, what we believe, and the people and programs that continue to shape our legacy in downtown St. Petersburg and beyond.
In 2004, the award-winning brainchild of Artistic Directors David Ellis and Bob Devin Jones, had its official ribbon cutting signifying the beginning of the Studio@620 in historic downtown St. Petersburg. The idea grew out of the core belief that art and diversity play a crucial role in the lives of individuals and communities. Since then, we’ve continued to put our mission into practice by saying YES to numerous theatrical, musical, and dance productions, book launches, community conversations, artist exhibitions, and new work development.
The Studio has been a home for several long-running original events & series, including the ever-popular Radio Theatre Project, Journeys in Journalism, Poetry Open Mic, and Wordier Than Thou. The Studio@620 served as an incubator for SEVERAL numerous creative ventures in our area: FreeFall Theatre Company, Your Real Stories Productions, Sunscreen Film Festival, Keep St. Pete Lit, Wordier Than Thou, Tombolo Books, Black Horse Theatre, to name a few.
Our mission is to ignite cultural vibrancy, incubate artistic expression and foster a creative workforce through the exploration of storytelling, society and technology.
Meet the passionate artists, administrators, and leaders who bring Studio@620’s mission to life every day.
