Book Club December Meet-Up – In Person!

Hosted by Keep St. Pete Lit

Event Series

The Studio@620 invites you to a monthly book club gathering in collaboration with Keep St. Pete Lit. Book lovers will meet the first Wednesday of each month to discuss a pre-selected tome. We ask that participants wear masks while inside the building.

The selection for December is A Passage to India by E M Forster. The novel is based on Forster’s experiences in India, deriving the title from Walt Whitman’s 1870 poem “Passage to India” in Leaves of Grass.  Written in 1924, the novel is set against the backdrop of the British Raj and the Indian independence movement in the 1920s.  The story revolves around four characters: Dr. Aziz, his British friend Mr. Cyril Fielding, Mrs. Moore, and Miss Adela Quested and centers around the common racial tensions and prejudices between Indians and the British during the colonial era.
