DanceBreak Live: The Creation and Creatives Behind Jazz Theory
Hosted by projectALCHEMY
DanceDanceBreak is projectALCHEMY’s virtual/in person dance experiment created in partnership with The Studio@620. Join us for a live event on Tuesday April 18th at The Studio@620, where hosts Esophia Higgins-Wilkins and Alexander Jones will talk dance shop with the creators and collaborators of Jazz Theory, a dance and music experience. But, don’t think this is all just talking—they are incorporating a movement session within the presentation and invite you to engage in the conversations as well by sending your questions in real time.
For this session, projectALCHEMY takes a look into the process of creating Jazz Theory, with projectALCHEMY Executive Artist Director Alex Jones and local jazz icon Jeremy Carter. These two collaborators along with the cast, musicians, and creative team will reflect on the experience of combining the modes of jazz improvisation with dance composition and give a preview or two of the upcoming revival of Jazz Theory with Jeremy at The Palladium April 27th.
“For us, performance is only part of the process—we want to share the alchemy of dance with the community. ” – Alexander Jones
